Putin promises to continue helping Iran against the US

Puitn has reminded the world and in particular the United States that he is helping Iran to fight the Americans. Them about three minutes later, during a press conference, he said he remained "comfortable" with having visits from Trump's two main envoys, Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner, to talk about the war in Ukraine and possible peace negoatiations. He can't really have it both ways. If he's so happy with Trump's envoys why does he then tell everyone that he is helping Iran which is right now giving Trump more grief than anything else. Well, the answer is that this is the way Putin plays the game. He likes to keep all his options open and in play. He is obviously not interested in a peace deal with Zelensky. I don't think he will ever agree to meet him face to face. But he still wants to have the occasional visit from Witkoff and Kushner to sort of keep the ball rolling on a negotiated end to the war. It's play-acting, but it serves Putin well.
