Five days of renewed war in Iran and still no peace

It looks like Iran is just going to stomach whatever the US hurls at it and wait for the moment when Donald Trump has had enough and turns his attention elsewhere. Remeber, there are still several thousand Marines waiting for orders from the commander-in-chief. Since being deployed to the region, they have done nothing except try and keep on board their warships. They haven't been anywhere near Iranian territory. Will Trump ever use them? I think not. The reason is that so far the war has been about weapons, not personnel. About thirteen US military personnel have been killed in Operation Epic Fury but not in Iran. Trump knows that if he sends in the marines and the infantry from 82nd Airborne Division also in the region, it could lead to a dramatic rise in fatalities. That's when people back home and Congress will start to get really angry about the war. For the vast majority of Americans it's just a war of drones and missiles happening a long way from home. But fatalities will bring home the truth of this war which is that at present there is no end in sight. Will Trump blink first or will the rulers of the regime in Tehran be forced to blink first because of the damage the war and renewed naval blockade is doing to the economy? No one is blinking right now but the nearer we get to the midterm elections in the US, the more likely it will be Trump who blinks first.
